Personally, I think Hammond relates better to the description "surreal" than "abstract". But you are right, he is less realistic than Dali, and I think this is partly because he is influenced by Japanese art, Ancient Egyptian art, and comics, all of which have a more "flat" style. I think you have the start of a really good essay here. Don't forget to use the spellcheck though!
